| Build Green – Ross has had a shift in consciousness, and is averse to working with some of the more toxic and environmentally damaging products used in woodworking. In place of melamine, particle board and MDF, he uses only plywood. He has also replaced lacquers and varnishes that have toxic solvents, with natural oil based finishes and water based clear finishes. He also uses veneer for large surfaces when appropriate instead of solid wood, placing less strain on the environment and in no way detracting from the beauty and finish of the completed furnishings. |

Native of a small town in Saskatchewan, Ross has recently come to settle and set up shop in the environmentally progressive community of Chelsea, Quebec , in the beautiful Gatineau Hills, minutes away from downtown Ottawa, Ontario.
Since early childhood Ross has always shown a creative flair for constructing things from whatever materials were available at hand. Wood working became his main creative expression in 1972, building simplistic furniture for family and friends. With his innate pioneering spirit, this developed into a career of “one of a kind” furniture pieces and wood turnings, promoted and sold through the local craft sale circuit. Along with fellow woodworkers, Ross was instrumental in introducing fine woodworking into Saskatchewan culture. The limited local market for fine furniture prompted Ross and a colleague to team up and establish an office furniture manufacturing business. They introduced veneering on a commercial scale to the province of Saskatchewan and built Western Canada’s second largest office furniture manufacturing business, supplying government, corporations, businesses and individuals with high quality furnishings.
After experiencing business on a corporate, level Ross has come full circle and is using his broad range of knowledge to bring beauty and enjoyment to individuals through his creative work.
