“By the turn of the nineteenth century, industrial buildings (factories and commercial warehouses) began to replace the finer grained residential building fabric in the areas around Spadina, especially after the Great Fire of 1904, which destroyed the City’s primary manufacturing district near Front and Bay Streets.
